Dye based vs. Pigment based inks

I’ve just changed printers.  I’ve gone from a Canon Pro-100 to an Epson P800.  I think the most radical change is going from dye based inks on the Canon to pigment based inks on the Epson.

Haven’t printed much yet, but it looks as if the colors are more subtle and muted with the pigment ink of the Epson.  Maybe a touch more realistic transitions and closer to the real colour than the dye ink.

The Canon would give me intense colours that jumped off the page.  I’ll print some more and let you know what I find.

Looking forward to printing with the P800 on Moab Pearl 260 paper.
