We’ve been hearing a lot of talk lately about the feature set of the Sony A7iii and the A7Riii. Things like the Eye Focus tracking. The autofocus system will lock on an eye and track it on a moving subject.
This got me thinking, I know I can do Eye AF with the RX100iii but what can the A99ii do? I had already programmed a button for this feature but had never used it on a moving subject. So I tested it. Lo and behold, the A99ii tracks the subject’s eye even when they are moving. Wow!
Pundits are touting these capabilities on the new Sony cameras but I’ve had this feature since 2016! The A-mount is certainly not dead. Is it going to be a testbed for new technologies at Sony?
Think about it. I’ve had 42MP at 12 fps and Eye Tracking AF for nearly a year and a half. Sure, I’d love to play around with some of the new E-mount cameras, but my A-mount machine is a beast!
BTW, I’m working on a fun little video for my YouTube channel. It will be out soon. Be sure not to miss it!
